Beat the Winter Blues & All That Jazz
A musical fundraiser fr Madison-area Urban Ministry
by A. David Dahmer
Community members came together at the Top of the Inn at the Inn on the Park on Madison’s Capitol Square March 6 to raise funds for a worthy cause — helping the Madison-area Urban Ministry continue its advocacy for social justice.
Folks mingled and ate hors d’oeuvres as they browsed the many items at MUM’s silent auction. They listened to the beautiful blues of Bobby Bryan and the Original Downtown Players (below) and the excellent singing of Jan Wheaton (below), who was accompanied by her piano player, Matan Rubenstein.
“On behalf of MUM’s staff and Board of Directors, we’d like to give a big thank-you to everyone who supported our event,” said MUM Executive Director Linda Ketchum, pictured below with Betty Banks and with some of her MUM staff and Rev. Gregory Armstrong. “The music was great, the fellowship was great, and the funds raised help support our advocacy work — so that someday Madison will be a great city for everyone to live in.”
